Yeats Country - Places to visit

Ben Bulben - from the top of Ben Bulben, you will be rewarded with spectacular views of the plain. Ben Bulben was often visited by Yeats who wrote a poem about this remarkable feature titled 'Under Ben Bulben'.
Lissadell House - home of the Gore-Booth sisters who lived at Lissadell. Yeats often stayed here as a guest & you can see the room where the poet slept.

Dooney Rock - probably offering the most spectacular views of Ben Bulben over the lough.
Slish Wood - In his poem ' The Stolen Child ' Yeats refers to Slish Wood as Sleuth Wood - ' WHERE dips the rocky highland Of Sleuth Wood in the lake '
Colgagh Lake - Colgagh Lake is located a few miles north of Sligo town, about a mile from Lough Gill.
Isle of Innisfree - "There midnight's all a glimmer, and noon a purple glow" - WB Yeats
Sligo - famous for it's thriving arts scene inspired by it;s connections with WB Yeats and his family, Sligo is the best place to begin a tour of Yeats Country.
Parke's Castle - Built in 1609, Parke's Castle is a fortified manor house on the eastern end of Lough Gill. Boat trips leave from outside the castle walls.
Drumcliffe - Visit Drumcliffe Churchyard where you will find the grave of WB Yeats who died in 1948 in France.
